German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that he could imagine German soldiers in Ukraine, but only under one condition: after a ceasefire.
“I want to make one thing clear: until the war is over, there will not be a single German soldier on Ukrainian soil. The question arises when a ceasefire or peace should come – and when it will become clear what this looks like. For example, will there be a demarcation line, a buffer zone or a peacekeeping zone in which the armed forces will guarantee peace... As you can see, there are still too many open questions to make a statement“, Pistorius said, NTV reported.
He noted that the relevant decision will be made by the parliament in Berlin. According to the minister, Germany will not stand aside and will not remain indifferent.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on his Western allies a few days ago to "urgently reinforce Ukraine on the battlefield" at a time when Kiev's forces have been losing territory to the Russian army for months, AFP reported.
