Ukrainian drones set fire to fuel depot in Crimea, Russia strikes Odessa port infrastructure - 1

Following a midnight attack by Ukrainian drones on the Russian-occupied Crimea peninsula yesterday, a large fuel depot was set on fire, the General Staff of Ukraine reported, DPA reported , quoted by BTA.

Residents of the city of Feodosia, on the Crimean coast of the Black Sea, shared videos of the fire on social networks earlier yesterday, in which puffs of smoke could be seen in the distance above the southern coast of the peninsula.

Local Russian authorities confirmed the information about the fire, but did not comment that it was the result of an attack by Ukrainian drones.

Last night, an air alert was declared on the entire Crimean peninsula, and in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, as well as in the area of the Russian air bases "Belbek" and "Saki" there were explosions and anti-aircraft fire.

Russia hit the port infrastructure of Odessa this evening, Oleg Kiper, the chairman of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced in the "Telegram" application, quoted by BTA.

According to his information, Russian forces hit a civilian cargo ship sailing under the flag of Palau with a ballistic missile.

A 60-year-old Ukrainian, an employee of a private company, processing goods, died. 5 foreign citizens were also injured, four of them in serious condition. They are currently receiving the necessary medical assistance.

"Russian terrorists are again trying to thwart the work of the Ukrainian grain corridor," Kiper said in the message.

In the last few days, this is the second attack on a civilian cargo ship in the ports of Odesa region.

At least one person was killed and six were wounded in a Russian airstrike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Slavyansk near the front line, Reuters reported, citing BTA, citing a Telegram post. of the regional governor of the Donetsk region Vadim Filashkin.

According to him, 6 multi-storey residential blocks, an administrative building and a business object were affected by the shelling. Photos circulated online show apartments with broken windows and damage to the facades.

According to Filashkin, there are 2 children among the injured, including a 2-year-old.

Before the summit of the Contact Group on the provision of defense assistance to Ukraine at the US Air Force Base "Ramstein" in Germany at the end of this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urgently called on his allies last night for significantly larger supplies of weapons, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

In his video message last night, Zelensky said that sufficient supplies to the front line, equipment for military brigades and long-range weapons will be needed in the coming months to stop Russia and force it to seek peace.

"We will try to convince our partners at the upcoming meeting in "Rammstein" about the urgent need to significantly strengthen our capabilities and our positions right now, in these autumn months," Zelensky said on the occasion of the meeting scheduled for Saturday.

"We invite our partners to define how they envision the end of this war, Ukraine's place in the global security architecture and joint steps that can bring this war to an end,", Zelensky stressed.

For the first time, the leaders of the countries supporting Ukraine plan to meet at the Ramstein base, including US President Joe Biden, who arrives on a visit to Germany later this week.
