Zelensky: We are continuing the pressure on Russian troops in the Kursk region - 1

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian forces are maintaining the necessary pressure on Russian troops in Kursk region, where Kiev launched a massive invasion in August, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"The fighting in the Kursk region has been going on for the third month and we are maintaining the necessary pressure on Russia in this sector," Zelensky said in his evening video address after a meeting with senior commanders of the Ukrainian army.

Ukrainian forces have captured dozens of villages in Russia's Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, although Moscow says some of the territory has already been retaken. Meanwhile, Russian forces are making progress in areas in Ukraine's Donetsk region, which is also the main focus of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine must secure and deploy modern missiles and achieve faster results with them on the battlefield.

After Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine asked its Western partners, mainly the US, to supply sophisticated long-range missiles.

It also focused on the rapid development of the domestic arms industry. Much of the attention has focused on unmanned aerial vehicles, with Zelensky last year calling for 1 million of them to be produced by 2024, but officials have also emphasized the importance of missile development.
