Finnish President Alexander Stubb will make a state visit to China from October 28 to 31, where he will meet with President Xi Jinping and other high-ranking officials, Reuters reported, citing the government of Finland, quoted by BTA.
Main topics during the visit will be relations between Finland and China, the war between Russia and Ukraine, as well as security issues.
Finland and China have been engaged in delicate diplomacy since last October over the possible role of a Hong Kong-registered cargo ship in damaging the Baltic Connector gas pipeline. (Balticconnector).
Finnish police concluded that the pipeline was probably damaged by an anchor being dragged along it.
The incident, which affected Finland's energy security, led to a six-month repair of the "Baltic Connector", notes Reuters.
In March, Finland's previous president, Sauli Niinistö, said on his resignation that a diplomatic settlement of the case had required "delicate but determined work by all involved.
