„Ukrainians are fully aware of the importance of Western support for the ability to effectively repel Russian aggression. From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, they viewed it as a joint confrontation between Ukraine and the West against the aggressor Russia”, the survey says.

In September 2022, 80% of Ukrainians believed that the successes of the Ukrainian army were a joint achievement of Ukraine and the West. In the same survey, 73% expressed confidence that the West wants the war to end on terms acceptable to Ukraine.

In February 2023, 81% of Ukrainians believed that cooperation between Ukraine and the West in repelling Russian aggression was mutually beneficial.

Currently, 81% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine can achieve success on the battlefield if the West continues to provide adequate aid. There are 14% who believe that Russia is too strong (in December 2023, this share was 7%). Another 6% of respondents cannot make a decision on the matter.

In all regions of the country, the majority — from 67% in Eastern Ukraine to 87% in the West — believes that Ukraine can prevail in the war with Russia.

At the same time, between December 2023 and September 2024, in all regions except Western Ukraine, there was a decrease in the number of respondents who believed in the possibility of Ukrainian success. The biggest drop is in Eastern Ukraine, where in December 2023 79% believed in success, while now it is 67%. In the East, 24% think that Russia is too strong.

In September 2022, only 15% of Ukrainians believed that the West was tired of Ukraine and was seeking peace on unfair terms for Kyiv. Instead, 73% thought the West wanted the war to end on terms acceptable to Ukraine. In 2023, critical sentiments began to rise, with 30% believing in the West's war-weariness in December 2023, and in February 2024, this share rose to 44%.

Between February and September 2024, the proportion of those who believe the West is war-weary drops to 38%. At the same time, 54% of Ukrainians believe that the West is striving for an end to the war acceptable to Ukraine.
