The US struck five underground Houthi weapons depots in Yemen - 1

< strong>US forces hit five underground weapons depots in Yemen controlled by the Houthis from the Ansar Allah rebel movement. This is stated in a written statement by the US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, TASS reported.

„Today, US forces, including US Air Force B-2 bombers, carried out precision strikes on five fortified underground weapons depots in Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen,”, the head of the US war department noted. According to him, the warehouses contained “various components of weapons of the types the Houthis have used to attack civilian and military vessels in the region”.

According to Austin, US strikes will “further reduce the potential of the Houthis to continue destabilizing actions” and are also supposed to help ensure the safety of US forces. The head of the Pentagon assured that "the United States will not hesitate to take protective measures" and stopping new attacks on ships.

Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Ansar Allah movement warned that it would fire on Israeli territory and prevent ships linked to it from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el Mandeb Strait, while the operation in the Palestinian enclave will not be terminated. Since November 2023, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

In response to the actions of "Ansar Allah" US authorities announced the formation of an international coalition and the launch of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea. Subsequently, the armed forces of Great Britain and the United States began to regularly strike military targets of the rebels in Yemen.
