Lebanese civil defense officials discovered the body of the former head of Hezbollah's executive council, Hashem Safiaddin, while clearing debris in the El Mraj district on the outskirts of Beirut. Al Hadath TV channel reported.
This Shia politician has been considered the main contender for the post of Hezbollah Secretary General since the killing of Hassan Nasrallah in southern Beirut on September 27.
Safiaddin was killed on October 3 during a strike on a bunker in the El-Mereji area. While clearing the rubble, rescuers pulled from the rubble the bodies of 23 Hezbollah members who had participated in a meeting led by Safiaddin.
At least seven people were killed when Israeli tanks shelled a school in the town of Beit Lahiya in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
According to the media, those who were forced to leave their homes took refuge in the school.

„Resistance drones accurately hit all targets in the enemy base Eliakim south of the city of Haifa,”, the text says. Previously, Shiite units used surface-to-surface missiles in attacks on Kibbutz Kiryat Shmona, Manara, Misgav Am and Shear Yesuf in the Upper Galilee.
In just one day, they carried out 39 armed attacks – this is a record number since the beginning of the military escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border in October 2023.
The statement said that while repelling attacks by Israeli special forces in the border areas of southern Lebanon on Tuesday, resistance fighters destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank. The armored vehicle was hit by a guided missile in Al-Taybi and the crew was injured.

The Israeli air force carried out intensive attacks during the day on fortified areas of Shiite formations in the north-east and south of Lebanon. According to the republic's health ministry, five people died and at least 10 were injured in Baalbek and Hermel. In Nabatia, located 15 km from the border with Israel, 5 people were killed and 21 wounded during the bombing of the Ksar-Zaater district.
