Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today defined "Israeli aggression" in the Gaza Strip as “one of the worst genocides of the century”, CNN-Turk Turkish TV reported.
"One of the most brutal genocides of our century is taking place in the Gaza Strip,", Erdogan said.
Our hearts were broken by the barbarities committed. We saw how the people of Gaza heroically resisted the “relentless killing machine that receives unlimited military and diplomatic support from Western powers”, the Turkish head of state said.
In his words, one of the best answers to "Zionist aggression" of Israel against Gaza and Lebanon will be the recognition of Palestine by as many countries as possible.
He called on the countries of the Islamic world to “put aside their differences and support the Palestinian and Lebanese people in their just struggle”.
Erdogan announced that since the start of the Gaza crisis, Turkey has delivered more than 85,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the region via Egypt.
The Turkish president recalled that his country stopped trade with Israel and joined the legal action of the Republic of South Africa against Israel at the UN International Court of Justice.
We completely stopped trade with Israel, “sacrificing $9.5 billion in trade". We are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators of genocide to justice under international law. We have clearly expressed our reaction on almost all international platforms, especially in the UN, Erdogan added, quoted by CNN-Turk TV.
