Norwegian police announced that they arrested the son of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit on suspicion in rape. This happened on November 18. Marius Borg Hoiby is suspected of having “sexual contact with a person who was unconscious or otherwise unable to resist the act,” said a police statement quoted by Nova.
„What the police can say about rape is that it refers to a sexual act without intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to resist, the police said.
Borg Hoiby was detained before - on August 4, after a nighttime scandal in a woman's apartment in Oslo and accused of causing bodily harm to the resident, with whom he had a relationship, the police said. Norwegian media reported that at that time police found a knife stuck in one of the walls of the woman's bedroom. In September, he was arrested again for violating a restraining order. According to police, he was in a car with the alleged victim from the August incident when he was taken into custody.
It is not yet known whether Borg Hoiby will be taken into custody.
The 27-year-old crown prince was born from a relationship before his mother's marriage to Prince Haakon. He and his half-siblings - Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Svere Magnus, 18 - were raised together by Mette-Marit and Haakon. In contrast, Borg Hoiby has no official public role.
