US President-elect Donald Trump held a series of talks with European leaders focused on the situation in Ukraine. The American newspaper The Washington Post noted that Trump was in "listening mode" and asked questions rather than making specific requests, conveys Focus.

Over the weekend, Trump contacted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, raising questions about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's plan to win the war.

"What do you think of Zelensky's victory plan? What do you think of Putin?" – were the questions Trump asked Scholz, according to the publication.

In addition to Germany, Trump has spoken with leaders of France, Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and other European countries. A German official said the calls were "friendlier than expected".

European warnings to Trump

Europe's leaders have stressed to Trump that a "bad deal" for Ukraine could lead to undesirable consequences for him as president.

"A bad deal will come back to haunt him," noted European representatives.

They emphasized that any peace agreement must ensure that the conflict does not recur, while Ukraine's security is permanently protected.
