Gunmen last night killed six people and wounded at least five others in a bar in the southeastern part of Mexico, the Associated Press reported. Press, quoted by BTA, referring to local media.
The bar is located in the state of Tabasco, where violence has recently been on the rise.
Public Safety Minister Omar García Harfuch wrote in an op-ed in “X“ that the attack took place in Villahermosa and that federal authorities are working with local authorities to help solve the crime.
No arrests were reported and it was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting. Video footage posted on social media showed people fleeing the bar, with some survivors staying with the victims until police arrived.
This attack is another case of violence in the country, AP notes.
Earlier this month, gunmen opened fire at a bar in central Mexico, killing 10 people and wounding 13. The attack took place in the historic center of the city of Queretaro, in a region that until recently had been spared the violence seen in neighboring states like Guerrero.
