Romania's Supreme Court may annul the first round of the presidential election - 1

The possibility of the first round of the presidential election in Romania to be repeated is on the agenda if the country's Supreme Court decides to annul the results of the vote on November 24, announced the head of the electoral commission Tony Grebla, and according to him the new first round could be held on the 15 December, and the second on December 29, Focus broadcasts.

The request to annul the election was made by Conservative candidate Christian Terges, who is demanding a recount of the 9.46 million votes cast. The court has scheduled a new hearing for November 29 to consider the case.

Electoral officials warned that it would not be possible to finish counting the votes before the court session. Authorities in Romania have said they have evidence of outside interference in the election process, including by hostile actors such as Russia.

Independent candidate Calin Georgescu, who surprisingly won the vote, is also under investigation for the possibility that he had an unfair advantage in the campaign.
