Russian troops are preparing for a large-scale offensive in the Zaporozhye region, accumulating and regrouping personnel and military equipment. This is stated by Colonel Alexey Khilchenko, commander of the rapid reaction brigade "Spartan" of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense, quoted by Focus.
„The Russian army is preparing for a large-scale offensive in our direction – I mean Zaporozhye region. There is every sign of this and the Russians are conducting many different movement and preparation actions. Are we ready for their onslaught? I think we're ready,” notes Khilchenko.
Intelligence operations and movement of forces
The Russian army is trying to move forces and assets in an inconspicuous way. However, Ukrainian intelligence is able to detect these movements, which allows analysis and prediction of their intentions.
„Ukrainian intelligence continues to track the movements of the enemy. This allows us to determine where and which Russian units are moving. Based on this information, we expect active action in the region,” clarifies the colonel.
Assault tactics and field actions
Russian troops carry out daily assault operations, but mainly with the help of infantry groups and minimal use of equipment.
„The Russians use personnel without equipment, sometimes with motorcycles or buggies. They conduct offensives only during the daylight hours. There is no traffic at night – the most they can do is replenish supplies and rotate personnel deep in their defence,” commented Khilchenko.
As Russia builds up forces for an offensive in the Zaporozhye region, Ukrainian forces are stressing their readiness to respond to the attack. Ukrainian intelligence planning and actions remain key to the successful defense of the region.
