The number of participants in the trial against the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on charges of corruption in the supply of untested vaccines against COVID-19 for over 35 billion. EUR reached 1000 people. This was announced at a press conference in Liège by the initiator of this claim, the Belgian lobbyist Frederic Baldan.
"The number of participants in the case from the prosecution, who oppose von der Leyen, has already reached 1,000 people. They include, among others, the governments of Hungary and Poland, public organizations including professional associations of doctors and flight attendants, and individuals whose loved ones have died as a result of side effects from the Pfizer vaccine, he said.
Baldan emphasized that this lawsuit is “not only about corruption”, but also about “intentionally hiding from the public information about the dangers of using an untested vaccine”.
According to him, the EU prosecutor's office is directly defending von der Leyen in the trial. Baldan noted that the prosecution had effectively thwarted hearings in the Liège court on that trial on December 6 by turning to another court to claim that the EC chief had immunity from prosecution. As a result, the hearing was adjourned pending resolution of the immunity issue on January 6.
The so-called EU prosecutor's office, firstly, is not a prosecutor's office, and secondly, it has no competence in this case,”, he stressed. - For now, it is just an EU agency, created on the initiative of the head of the European Commission and acting in its interests, whose tasks include investigating abuses of money from the EU budget. That is why this experience should not fall within the competences of this structure: the vaccines against COVID-19 were bought with the money of the EU countries, not with funds from the EU budget.“
