The armed Syrian opposition provided security guarantees to the foreign diplomatic missions in Damascus that came under its controlq reported on TASS diplomatic sources in two Arab countries.
"The opposition leadership guarantees the safety of foreign diplomatic missions. Currently, the embassies maintain an inviolable status, but the situation in Syria is rapidly changing. It is difficult for us to predict the further development”, said one of the interlocutors of the agency.
Earlier, a representative of the Russian embassy in Damascus said that the mission's staff remained in the Syrian capital. According to him, "everything is fine" with the Russian diplomats. TASS sources in the Arab countries were unable to clarify whether the Syrian opposition contacted the embassies of the Russian Federation and Iran.
Leaders of the armed Syrian opposition guaranteed the security of Russian military bases and diplomatic institutions in Syria.
