Three Russian schools in Kazakhstan, which are planned to open in the southern part of the republic, will accept 1,200 students each, and the training in them will be conducted according to Kazakhstani standards. As for the issue of the construction of parity Kazakh schools in Russia, it is known that the regions where these educational institutions will be located have been selected, the press service of the Ministry of Education of Russia reported. „The construction of Russian schools is planned in the Turkestan, Kyzylorda and Zhambyl regions of Kazakhstan. The school's capacity is estimated at 1,200 student places. The training will be conducted according to the standards of our Kazakh education, based on the state standard for compulsory education”, said the official representative of the ministry, Mereke Amangeldikizi.

She emphasized that, in general, the issue of Russian schools in Kazakhstan is “still at the negotiation stage”. “As you understand, this is a very large-scale process, because the financing problems, the construction problems have to be solved, all this takes time,” the official said.

Regarding the opening of Kazakh schools in Russia, Amangeldykyzy informed that “currently, the regions of the Russian Federation where future projects are planned to be implemented are determined on a parity basis.“ According to her, “Kazakh schools in particular will be built in Russian regions where a significant number of ethnic Kazakhs live - Orenburg, Tomsk, Astrakhan.“

She pointed out that for the implementation of the initiative to build a school, an interstate bilateral working group between Kazakhstan and Russia has been established, which is working on aspects related to the implementation of this project in both countries. “Including the issue of construction financing is under discussion, and more precise amounts will be determined at the next stages of the negotiations”, explained the representative.

In November 2023 the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokaev, in an interview with the newspaper "Izvestia", announced that the republic and Russia were "negotiating the creation of joint Kazakh-Russian educational organizations in the southern regions of Kazakhstan". At the same time, Tokaev expressed interest in opening suitable schools in the Russian regions bordering Kazakhstan, “where a large number of compatriots live”.

His Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the eve of his state visit to Kazakhstan in November this year, said that Russia also supports the construction of new Russian-language schools in Kazakhstan and the improvement of the quality of school education in Russian. “We expect three more such schools to be opened soon in the cities of Kyzylorda, Taraz and Turkestan,”, the Russian leader noted in an article published on November 27 in the publication “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda".
