A small plane has crashed on an interstate in New York. One of the two people on board died and the other was injured, the Associated Press reported, citing local authorities, writes BTA.
The crash forced the closure of the highway about 25 miles northeast of Manhattan.
Video footage from the scene shows a damaged white plane leaning against the median barrier, with emergency vehicles blocking traffic in all directions.
State Governor Kathy Hockle said that Environmental Protection Agency officials were on site to clean up the spilled jet fuel.
“My heart goes out to the families of those who were on board during this tragic incident, and I pray for the recovery of the injured person,“ Hockle said in a statement.
