Ukraine said today it had hit a warehouse for storing and maintaining long-range "Shahed" unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia's Oryol region, adding that this "significantly limited" Russia's ability to carry out massive drone attacks, Reuters reported.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a post on „Telegram“ that the attack was carried out on Thursday by the Ukrainian Air Force.
„As a result of the strike, a warehouse for the storage, maintenance and repair of kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles „Shahed“, consisting of several protected concrete structures, was destroyed,“ the statement said.“This military operation significantly reduced the enemy's potential for carrying out air strikes with strike drones against the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine,“ it also said.“Moscow has not commented on this claim so far, Reuters noted.
Russia regularly launches missile strikes and carries out drone attacks against Ukraine. For the past few months, Moscow has launched dozens of drones into Ukraine almost daily, hoping to damage its infrastructure and wear down its air defenses, making them less capable of shooting down missiles.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 15 of the 16 drones launched by Russia overnight, with the last one disappearing from radar.
