At night, Russian forces attacked the Izmail region with drones, the head of the Odessa regional military administration Oleg Kiper announced in the Telegram application, quoted by BTA.
The Ukrainian air defense operated actively for more than three hours to repel the attack. According to the regional governor, the target of the attack was the port infrastructure. Fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries.
As a result of the attack, damage was caused to the facades of administrative buildings and one residential building.
The Bulgarian community in the Odessa region numbers over 150,000 people, and they are the third largest ethnic group according to the 2001 census in Ukraine. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odessa itself, and the largest compact community is located in the Bolgradsky, Izmailsky and Belgorod-Dniester districts.
