The Ukrainian authorities have taken action against "traitors", President Volodymyr Zelensky said last night in his evening address, quoted by DPA and BTA.
“Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have also performed very well: the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police and our prosecutor's office“, Zelensky said.
“We are countering traitors and various schemes that have weakened our state and Ukrainian society. "And anyone who opposes Ukraine or does not respect the laws of Ukraine should remember that they will be held accountable," he added.
However, the Ukrainian president did not provide any details, DPA notes.
The SBU and the prosecutor's office made an unusually large number of statements last night about the arrests of suspected collaborators and agents of Russia.
For example, the SBU reported the arrest of a department head at a state-owned bank. The head is alleged to have participated in financing Russia's war against Ukraine.
In another case, opposition TV presenter Max Nazarov was arrested for allegedly justifying Russia for starting the conflict.
Another statement mentioned the exposure of a spy network run by Russia's domestic intelligence service, the FSB. The group is said to have operated in the capital Kiev and in Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.
Intelligence services also said that a company had been uncovered in the Dnepropetrovsk region that allegedly helped Russia build a laboratory for developing nuclear weapons. Russia, a nuclear power with a large stockpile of nuclear weapons, has accused Ukraine of trying to acquire such weapons of mass destruction.
The DPA agency said it could not independently verify the claims.
