Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic today visited Vukasin Crncevic, a young man who was seriously injured in the incident on November 1 in Novi Sad, when part of the railway station canopy collapsed, BTA reports.
Vucic shared on social networks that he believes that Vukasin's strength, the support of his family and the prayers of his loved ones will help him get through this difficult period. He expressed confidence that the doctors would do everything possible to treat the injured person, and that Vukašin would receive the best possible care.
Corruption practices and poor-quality repairs at the station caused a wave of public discontent
The incident, in which 14 people lost their lives and several others were injured, including Vukašin, caused a serious public and political response in Serbia. According to many, the tragedy was the result of corruption practices and nepotism, which led to poor-quality repairs to the building. A wave of protests was organized by students, opposition parties and civil society organizations, who blamed the government for what happened. As a result of these protests, Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and Novi Sad Mayor Milan Đurić resigned.
Doctors fight for 18-year-old man's life in intensive care at the Military Medical Academy
Although Vukašin's condition remains serious but stable, doctors at the Military Medical Academy, where he is being treated after passing through the University Clinical Center of Vojvodina, are working hard to restore him. According to the latest reports, he is in intensive care and continues to receive intensive medical care.
