Britain allows Ukrainian refugees to bring their children to the UK - 1

The UK government has announced that refugees from Ukraine can now bring their children with them to stay for up to 18 months. The move overturns previous visa rules, UPI reported.

The UK Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government said in a statement that the children “will have access to education, healthcare, benefits and work in accordance with the law“.

The government has clarified that both the parent or guardian and the child applicant will have to meet all the requirements of the “Housing for Ukraine“ program.

In February last year, the Conservative Party banned Ukrainian refugees from sponsoring family members to help them enter the country and obtain visas. This mechanism was only available to citizens and persons with permanent residence permits.

Earlier, the Telegraph newspaper, citing the charity Opora, wrote that thousands of Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the UK after the start of the conflict in 2022 could lose their jobs due to new rules for extending visas.
