US President Donald Trump may sign an executive order on Thursday to close the US Department of Education.
This was reported on Wednesday by the newspaper "Politico", citing a draft document.
According to the publication, the document will order Education Secretary Linda McMahon to "take all necessary steps" to facilitate the closure of the department.
In early March, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump intends to sign the relevant order on March 6.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing its sources, that the US Department of Education plans to lay off up to 50% of its employees.
