A US federal judge on Monday blocked Elon Musk's Office of Government Efficiency from accessing the Social Security database, which has been targeted by US President Donald Trump in his campaign against fraud and waste in government, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
US District Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander of Maryland said in her ruling that the Social Security Agency likely violated privacy laws by giving the Office of Government Efficiency “unrestricted access to the personal data of millions of Americans“.
“The Office of Government Efficiency team is scouring the Social Security Agency in search of major fraud, "He's looking for a needle in a haystack without any concrete idea whether the needle is actually in the haystack," Judge Hollander said.
The White House did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
