US President Donald Trump told NBC that he is 100 percent confident that his initiative to annex Greenland will be successful.
„We will get Greenland. „Yes, 100 percent“, he said.
He added that there is „a good chance we can do it without using military force“, but noted that he is not ruling anything out.
Asked what signal he would send to the world with this, Trump said he did not care.
"I don't think about it. I don't care. Greenland is a completely different issue. It's about international peace, security and strength," he stressed.
The US president added that "there are ships from Russia, China and many other countries that sail near Greenland," so the US should not allow "things to happen that are harmful to the world or to the country."
Trump made the statement after US Vice President J.D. Vance visited the largest island on Earth.
During the visit, he accused Denmark of failing to protect its territory.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen criticized Vance's tone. He stressed that "this is not how you talk to close allies."
