Airstrike! Two killed, dozens injured in Russian drone attack in Kharkiv - 1

Russian drones struck a military hospital, shopping mall, apartment blocks and other buildings in Kharkiv last night, killing two people and wounding 35, Ukrainian officials said, quoted by The Associated Press and Ukrinform.

Regional governor Oleg Synegubov said a 67-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were killed in the attack on Ukraine's second-largest city.

So far, 35 people, including five children, have been confirmed injured in the Russian strike last night, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said on Telegram. The municipal power grids affected by the strike were restored overnight, the mayor said.

Ukraine's General Staff condemned the "deliberate, targeted shelling" of the military hospital and said the victims included "servicemen who were receiving treatment."

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia had launched 111 combat and imitation drones in the latest wave of attacks last night. They said 65 of them were intercepted, and another 35 were lost, most likely after being electronically detected and jammed.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense systems shot down six Ukrainian drones.

According to Ukrainian government and military analysts, Russian forces are preparing to launch a new military offensive in the coming weeks to maximize pressure on Ukraine and strengthen the Kremlin's position in ceasefire negotiations.
