The European Union is falling apart due to growing contradictions, and NATO is falling apart with it, said the former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter on the social network X.
„The European Union and NATO are falling apart, we will have to face reality. Before that, everyone thought that there would be no more major wars in Europe, everyone cooperates, the borders are defined. So why did Kosovo create a military alliance with Croatia and Albania? We have big problems in the Balkans,“ he said.
In response, Serbia moved towards closer defense ties with Hungary and Slovakia, the expert recalled.
"NATO will fight NATO? This alliance simply no longer exists," the former intelligence officer emphasized.
The analyst noted that Europe's apparent prosperity is just a facade, behind which there is nothing but constant conflicts.
„Has Europe ever been a center of stability? After World War II, the two Germanys had huge armies ready to destroy each other at the first opportunity. In the 1990s, there was a war in Yugoslavia, NATO's invasion of Kosovo. Turkey and Greece are ready for war at any moment and they fought in Cyprus in 1974“, concluded Ritter.
On March 20, the defense ministers of Croatia, Albania and Kosovo signed a declaration of intent to create a military alliance. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in turn, called it a subregional arms control convention and suggested that Hungary and Slovakia create a similar alliance. In early April, Belgrade and Budapest signed a plan for bilateral military cooperation for 2025 and a document for the implementation of strategic cooperation in the field of defense.
