Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted sharply to Poland's decision to close the Russian Consulate General in Krakow. According to her, Warsaw's actions constitute a deliberate deterioration of bilateral relations, Focus reports.
„Responsive steps will soon follow to close the Russian Consulate General in Krakow“, RIA Novosti reported, citing Zakharova.
She added that „Warsaw continues to deliberately destroy relations, acting against the interests of its citizens“, and warned that „there will be an adequate response to these inadequate actions“.
On the Polish side, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced his decision in a post on the social network X. According to him, it is related to suspicions of Russian sabotage activity.
„In connection with the existence of evidence of a sabotage act by the Russian special services against the shopping center on 'Mariwilska' Street, I have decided to withdraw my consent to the activities of the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Krakow“, wrote Sikorsky.
