Russia does not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, but Europe and Ukraine are still "aggressively insisting on it". Such a statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the Diplomatic Club. A video recording of his speech was published on the ministry's website, UNIAN reports.
"Neither Berlin, Paris, Brussels, nor London want peace in Ukraine", Lavrov said and immediately rejected the proposal to end hostilities proposed by Ukraine, the US and Europe. According to him, the ceasefire is necessary in order for Ukraine to prepare to continue fighting.
At the same time, Lavrov referred to the "position" Moscow has been trying since last year not to conclude a temporary ceasefire and thus prevent Ukraine from "bringing" weapons into the country.
