Two people have died and another 17 were injured after the Mexican Navy's sailing ship Cuauhtemoc crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, the New York Post reported, citing rescue sources.
According to them, four of the injured are in critical condition.
Earlier, New York Mayor Eric Adams said at a press conference that 19 people were injured, but did not report any deaths. There were 277 people on board the ship.
On the morning of May 18, the masts of a Mexican Navy training sailboat hit the Brooklyn Bridge and broke. Mexico's Navy Ministry said the sailboat would not be able to continue its training mission.
One of the ship's huge masts fell onto the deck, injuring crew members.
The bridge was not damaged in the collision.
Emergency services are checking the waters of the East River for any people who may have fallen overboard.
