Last night, Russia carried out its largest drone attack on Ukraine since the start of the war in 2022, after the first talks between Moscow and Kiev in years failed to lead to a ceasefire, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
The talks in Istanbul on Friday lasted less than two hours and ended without a ceasefire agreement, although an agreement was reached to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war from each side.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 273 decoy drones. Of these, 88 were intercepted and 128 were probably jammed. The attacks were aimed at the Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said it was the largest drone attack since the start of the war.
Kyiv regional governor Mykola Kalashnik said a 28-year-old woman was killed and three people, including a 4-year-old child, were injured in a drone attack in the region.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said its air defenses shot down seven Ukrainian drones overnight and another 18 this morning.
