A trial against three men accused of collaborating with Russian secret services begins today at the Higher Regional Court in the German city of Munich, Bavaria, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
The charges against them include planning subversive acts aimed at Germany's military infrastructure and railway network. According to the investigation, the leader of the group fought in Ukraine as part of an "armed terrorist organization".
The case caused a wide public outcry a year ago, when two of the suspects were arrested by police in Bavaria. More than 40 court hearings are scheduled for the case, which will continue until December 23 of this year.
Meanwhile, another similar case was announced last week - three Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Germany and Switzerland on suspicion of being recruited by Russian intelligence to carry out sabotage acts on German territory.
The court hearing in Munich begins today at 10:00 a.m. local time (11:00 a.m. Bulgarian time).
