The US and Turkey have come out with a common position in which they emphasize their support for preserving the territorial integrity of Syria and share a vision for establishing stability and peace in the country. This was reported by the Anadolu Agency, BTA reports.
The joint declaration was made after the meeting of the Turkish-American working group on Syria held in Washington. The talks were co-chaired by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz and his American counterpart Christopher Landau.
“The United States and Turkey share a common vision for Syria - a country at peace with itself and its neighbors, which would allow many Syrians to return to their homeland“, the joint statement said.
It also stressed that “both sides recognize the importance of preserving Syria's territorial integrity. A stable and united Syria that does not provide sanctuary to terrorist organizations would contribute to the prosperity and security of the entire region“.
