Three people were detained in Germany today in a police operation targeting an alleged human trafficking ring that authorities say facilitated the illegal entry of Chinese citizens into the country. This was reported by the DPA agency, BTA reports.
The law enforcement officers carried out searches in 40 properties located in nine German states: Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Berlin, Hamburg, Bavaria, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. The operation is coordinated by the Flensburg prosecutor's office and the federal police.
The suspected group is based in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is believed to have facilitated a large number of Chinese citizens to enter and stay illegally in Germany for a fee.
The investigation into the case began in October 2023, when the Flensburg prosecutor's office found evidence of organized and paid human trafficking. German authorities promised to provide further information as soon as the operation was completed.
