The fifth round of talks between Iran and the US on Tehran's nuclear program will be held today in Rome.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on his country's nuclear program cannot be revived.
"The JCPOA is not dead yet, but it cannot be revived. It must be forgotten," the foreign minister said on SNN.
He noted that some aspects of the plan regarding sanctions must be reviewed. Furthermore, commenting on the new round of talks with the US, Araghchi stressed that "no agreement will be reached" if Washington continues to insist on a complete halt to uranium enrichment.
Araghchi said that Tehran could allow enhanced monitoring of its nuclear facilities if sanctions are lifted.
“We are not giving up our rights, but we can take measures for transparency, provided that sanctions are lifted,“ he said on SNN television.
