Russian President Vladimir Putin's conditions for ending the war in Ukraine include a requirement that Western leaders commit in writing to halt NATO's expansion eastward and lift some sanctions against Russia, Reuters reported, citing Russian sources.
"Putin is ready to make peace, but not at any price", one of the sources told the publication.
Three Russian sources reported that Putin has asked for a written promise from major Western powers not to expand NATO eastward - meaning that Ukraine, Georgia or Moldova will not be included. Russia also wants Ukraine to be neutral and some Western sanctions to be lifted, the agency wrote.
US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly said he wants to end the war in Ukraine, has shown growing frustration with Putin in recent days. On Tuesday, he said the Russian leader was "playing with fire".
Russia launched massive strikes against Ukraine over the weekend. The time and place of the second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks, which began in Istanbul in May, have not yet been set.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier said he was ready for a trilateral meeting with Putin and Trump.
