US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will participate in the Asian security forum “Shangri-La Dialogue“, Reuters reported, BTA reports.
According to US officials, Hegseth will try to convince leaders from the Asia-Pacific region that the United States is a more reliable and stable partner than China.
The forum will be held on May 31 and June 1 and will bring together defense ministers, senior military officials, security officials and diplomats from around the world. However, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun will not attend.
Hegseth criticized the approach of former President Joe Biden on the region. According to him, “the previous administration talked about support, but all the Biden administration has shown is weakness“.
The newly appointed chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kaine, is also expected to participate in the dialogue.
