Thousands of people joined the annual gay parade in Washington, reported Agence France-Presse, reported BTA.

The crowd, waving rainbow flags, literally took over the streets of the American capital and issued a challenge to Donald Trump, who, upon returning to the White House, signed a decree stating that there are only two sexes in the United States - male and female.

At the forefront of the gay parade was the American transgender actress Laverne Cox, known for her role in the film “Orange is the New Black“. She stated to the crowd that she did not trust the Trump government, but she did trust the people.

Supporters of the LGBT community in the United States who had come from other countries specially participated in the parade. Many of the participants said they now have to hide their sexual orientation again, as they have done in the past in the country.

Thousands of Poles took part in a gay pride parade in the northern Polish city of Gdansk, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

In this way, they expressed their support for the LGBT community in the country at a time when there are fears that its rights will be limited by the coming to power of the new conservative and nationalist-minded President Karol Nawrocki.

The participants in the gay pride parade waved rainbow flags and pink and blue flags. They also carried many posters calling for the introduction of civil partnerships for same-sex couples in Poland and messages that same-sex love should not be restricted.

There was also a gay pride parade in Wrocław.

Nawrocki was supported in the elections by the conservative Law and Justice party. When it was in power in Poland from 2015 to 2023, opposition to LGBT ideology was a central part of its program.

Nawrocki's election program includes a commitment to opposing the ideology in schools and to preventing adoptions by same-sex couples in Poland. Nawrocki also says that marriage should remain a union between a man and a woman and rejects the idea of civil partnerships for same-sex couples.

In contrast, the pro-European coalition that makes up the current Polish government has introduced a bill in parliament to legalize civil partnerships. However, the president has the right to veto it and the bill's future is unclear.
