US President Donald Trump has nothing against a possible phone conversation with SpaceX founder Elon Musk, but he has not planned to call him personally, the head of state told reporters at the White House.
“I really haven't thought about it. I would believe that he wants to talk to me“, the American leader replied when asked if he would call Musk in the near future. “Or maybe he has already called. Better ask him if he has already called. But I wouldn't mind”, Trump added. The US president emphasized that if he were in Musk's place, he would count on such a conversation. At the same time, Trump did not say for sure whether he would return Musk's call. "I don't want to say," he said in response to a journalist's question.
Trump assured that he does not intend to take any action against the Starlink satellite communications system.
"No, I have not heard of it," he said, responding to a journalist's question whether the Washington administration has plans to reduce the use of Tesla products, which produces electric cars, or the Starlink communications services, which are provided by SpaceX. Both companies are led by Musk, who until recently headed the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Trump and Musk began publicly criticizing each other last week.
"I can displace Tesla a little bit, but I don't think we're going to do that with Starlink, it's a good service," Trump added. He did not explain exactly what he meant by the ability to "displace" Tesla, but noted that there are "many options" for this.
The Starlink service is actively used by the Ukrainian military to maintain communications.
