The director general of the East Azerbaijan Crisis Center reported that Iran's air defenses shot down an Israeli F-35 fighter jet over the city of Tabriz, in northwestern Iran. In a statement to the state news agency IRNA on Tuesday, Majid Farshi specified that two combat drones had previously been neutralized in the same area, Focus reports.
Farshi added that three different locations around Tabriz were attacked on the same day, with Iranian air defense systems fighting Israeli unmanned micro-aircraft. According to the information, this is the fourth Israeli F-35 fighter jet that has been intercepted and destroyed by the Iranian defense.
The Israeli strikes on Iranian territory began on the night of June 13, and according to Iranian sources, damage was caused to residential areas and military facilities. Among the victims were civilians whose homes were hit in the attacks.
The Israeli army has also struck high-ranking military targets. According to reports, the Chairman of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami, were killed in Tehran.
