A total of 70 people were killed in Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip on Friday, DPA reported, citing medical sources. The agency said the figures could not be independently verified.
23 people were reportedly killed while waiting for humanitarian aid in central Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli army, the incident occurred after a group of people gathered around Israeli soldiers and, despite warning shots, several people continued to move towards the soldiers, prompting an aircraft to open fire on them.
Another 11 were killed in Israeli shelling near an aid distribution point in Rafah in the southern part of the zone, medical sources said. The Israeli army said it had no reports of such an incident.
Both incidents occurred near checkpoints of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation - an organization supported by Israel and the United States.
