Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last night in his traditional evening video address to the nation that negotiations between Kiev and Washington on new American military aid to Ukraine are continuing, DPA reported, BTA reported.
"One way or another, we must guarantee the protection of our citizens," said the head of state. He added that draft agreements have been prepared to finance arms production with Denmark and other partners. The stagnation in US military aid is linked to concerns in Washington about the reduction of US arms stocks, DPA notes. The agency recalls that yesterday the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the deputy head of the US diplomatic mission in Kiev, John Ginkle, to discuss with him the partial freeze on US arms supplies, which was approved by Donald Trump's predecessor in the presidency, Joe Biden. Meanwhile, Zelensky wrote on the social platform "Ex" that during a meeting with representatives of US companies that are members of the American Chamber of Commerce, he made it clear that Ukraine relies on them. "American weapons protect not only the Ukrainian people, but also foreign businesses in our country", Zelensky said, quoted by DPA.
