Hamas to peace mediators: We are ready for negotiations immediately VIDEO - 1

The Palestinian movement "Hamas" has handed over to the mediators its response to the latest proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the agencies quoted by BTA reported, referring to an official statement by the group.

"Hamas" has handed over its response to the mediators that the movement is ready to immediately begin negotiations to implement the proposal under discussion," the position says. The Palestinian movement said the decision was made after internal consultations and consultations with other Palestinian factions, adding that its response was positive, but did not provide further details.

The parties mediating the settlement of the conflict in Gaza are Egypt, Qatar and the United States.

They recently presented a plan for a 60-day ceasefire in the war, which began after a massive attack by Hamas militants against southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

According to US President Donald Trump, Israel has already accepted the "necessary conditions" for the finalization of the agreement to cease hostilities.

The specific parameters of the ceasefire, which are contained in the mediators' proposal, have not yet been officially announced.

According to Israeli and international media, the draft agreement provides for the release of ten of the at least 20 still alive hostages, as well as the handing over of the bodies of 18 of those kidnapped in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons.

Previous ceasefires have failed due to disagreements between Israel and "Hamas". During these temporary truces, the two sides were supposed to negotiate the parameters of an agreement for a permanent cessation of hostilities.

"Hamas" is insisting on reaching an agreement that would effectively end the war. Israel wants to reserve the right to continue military action after the 60-day period expires if negotiations to end the conflict are not successful.
