Iran will be declared one of the biggest threats to national security in the UK, The Daily Telegraph reported, citing a classified report by the parliamentary intelligence and security committee to which it has been granted access.
According to the publication, the 100-page document, the preparation of which took two years, will contain a conclusion that Iranian intelligence services are trying to physically eliminate dissidents in the UK. As the article states, the authors of the report, which is based on interviews with Iranian experts in the British intelligence service and the study of classified documents, will also pay attention to the damage that Iranian hackers have caused to British companies.
As The Daily Telegraph specifies, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer personally gave the green light for the preparation of the report. The article does not say when it will be published.
The UK's Strategic Defense Review, published on June 2, identifies Iran and North Korea as “regional intruders“, China as “a complex and ongoing problem“, and Russia as “an immediate and pressing threat“.
