In June, Russia increased the number of missiles and drones used against the territory of Ukraine by 1.6 times. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, on Facebook, summarizing the military situation for the month, reports Focus.
According to him, the Ukrainian forces managed to hit about 4,000 enemy targets, with strengthening and improving air defense remaining a top priority.
„We have another difficult month ahead of us. Our task is to continue strengthening the defense capacity of the army. Ukrainian forces will continue to resist and thwart the enemy's plans for a summer offensive with blood, sweat and the support of the people,“ stressed Sirsky.
He noted that in June the Russian army increased the intensity and scope of its strikes in order to stretch the line of combat contact and destabilize the Ukrainian defense. The main combat operations were concentrated in the Severoslobodansk, Dobropolsk, Pokrovsk and Novopavlovsk regions, where Russian forces are superior in numbers and equipment.
“The enemy is increasing the number of personnel, as well as the production of missiles and drones. "That is why we resort to symmetrical and asymmetrical actions, apply new tactical and technological solutions," the general explained.
Syrsky pointed out that in June, Ukrainian troops carried out 115 DeepStrike missions, and artillery destroyed 2,864 enemy targets. However, the war requires further mobilization and professional training of new recruits, and he noted problems in some regions with compliance with mobilization procedures.
Optimism is also inspired by the increased return on LPS (life support systems), which indicates improvements in resource management and personnel protection.
“Given the unstable international situation, we are looking for new ways to acquire and modernize weapons, including expanding the production and repair of strike drones, which partially compensate for the shortage of artillery ammunition,“ he said.
The situation in the Kursk and Belgorod regions
The Commander-in-Chief reported that Ukrainian forces have restored positions and are holding territory in the border areas of the Kursk and Belgorod regions, limiting the actions of a significant Russian group.
At a meeting of the General Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Sirsky emphasized active defense and prevention of Russian penetration into the depths of Ukrainian lines in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlovsk directions, as well as the protection of the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
