Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Russia's latest massive air attack on Ukrainian cities. In a statement quoted by the BBC, he said that it was the most intensive air attack in a single day since the start of the war, BTA reports.
„A total of 741 air targets were registered: 728 drones of various types, including over 300 „Shahid“, as well as 13 „Kinzhal“ and „Iskander“ missiles. Most of them were successfully shot down“, Zelensky wrote.
According to him, the main blow was inflicted on the city of Lutsk, but damage was also recorded in the Dnieper, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.
“This is a demonstrative attack, and at a time when so many efforts are being made to achieve peace and a ceasefire. Only Russia rejects all these initiatives“, the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
Zelensky called for additional and more painful sanctions against the Russian oil industry, which, according to him, continues to finance the Kremlin's military machine. He also insisted on introducing secondary sanctions against countries that buy Russian oil and thus “finance murder“.
“Our allies know how to put real pressure on Russia so that it is forced to think about ending the war, not about new strikes. I call on them to act now“, the president concluded.
