Odessa has been subjected to a massive drone attack, the city's mayor Gennady Trukhanov announced on the "Telegram" platform. According to him, loud explosions were heard in different areas of the Ukrainian Black Sea city, BTA reports.
According to information from local Telegram channels, more than eight drones attacked Odessa simultaneously. Clouds of smoke are visible in the sky, and it is assumed that there are hit objects.
Local authorities have issued an urgent appeal to residents to immediately head to bomb shelters. The air raid alert was issued at 09:20, and the attack is currently ongoing.
Over 150,000 Bulgarians live in the Odessa region, making them the third largest ethnic group according to the 2001 census in Ukraine. The city of Odessa itself is home to between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians. The largest compact Bulgarian communities are concentrated in the Bolgrad, Izmail, and Belgorod-Dniester regions.
