US President Donald Trump has called for an immediate end to the trial of former Brazilian President (2019-2022) Jair Bolsonaro. This is stated in a letter from the American leader to the former head of the South American state.
“I have seen the terrible treatment you have faced from a system that has turned against you. This trial must be stopped immediately“, Trump wrote in the letter, the text of which was published on his Truth Social page.
“I sincerely hope that the Brazilian government will change course, stop attacking political opponents, and end this ridiculous censorship regime. "I will be monitoring the situation closely," the American leader added.
Earlier, the head of the White House criticized the Brazilian authorities for their actions against Bolsonaro, who is under investigation for an attempted coup aimed at thwarting the rise to power of current head of state Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2022.
