Two people died on Sunday evening after a light aircraft crashed in the Danube Delta region, near the tourist resort of Gura Porticei in eastern Romania. The information was reported by the Romanian television Digi24, reports News.bg.
A helicopter of the Mobile Emergency Medical Service (SMURD) immediately arrived on the scene, but the medics were unable to provide assistance and the two people on board died on the spot.
According to preliminary data, the “Savannah 5“ aircraft took off to provide assistance to another aircraft of the same model, which had made an emergency landing a little earlier. However, during the takeoff attempt, the second plane lost altitude and crashed.
The causes of the crash have not yet been determined. Romanian authorities have launched an investigation to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
