The office of former US Democratic President Barack Obama said on Monday that a document released last week by the US Directorate of National Intelligence does not refute the conclusion that Russia tried to influence the 2016 US election, but did not manipulate the votes, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Nothing in the document released last week refutes the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election, but did not manipulate the votes," Obama's office said in a statement.
US President Donald Trump accused Obama today of "treason", by attributing blame, without providing evidence, to him, that he was at the forefront of efforts to falsely accuse him of ties to Russia and undermine his presidential campaign in 2016.
"These outlandish accusations are absurd and a petty attempt at distraction," Obama's office added.
